Part of strengthening community connections has resulted in the individuals’ desires and dreams of having volunteer opportunities to “give back”. One person had a lifelong dream of reading stories to children.  As an avid reader of books, she always wanted to share that with others by reading to them.  During the year, her team supported her in achieving her dream by helping her arrange a time to go to Ulster-Greene ARC’s Brookside School to read to the students as well as going to read at a nursery school.   She has expanded her audience to read to adults who are not able to do so themselves.

Volunteering time takes a real commitment but our individuals are capable and enthusiastic.
